Today at the Toronto Film Festival, we went right to the source and asked Hoffman directly if he indeed had been cast as The Penguin.
“No one has talked to me about it ever — never,” replied Hoffman. “It happened, like, five years ago, too. It was a rumor back then and it’s still a rumor. [laughs] It’s just in the press. It’s funny.”
I think its funny that mtv news has this big article on the rumors about the next batman movie, and then the next day they turn around and go "oops, just kidding". Ugh and I feel worse for getting caught up in what was obviously a rumor... -___-" But oh well, these things happen, that's how people are.

Where did they say "just kidding?" Michael Caine said one thing and they reported about his comments, and then Philip Seymour Hoffman responded to it the next day and they reported that as well. Isn't that what entertainment reporters do? Report what celebrities tell them?
